Famous Horror Directors
Tobe Hooper - Hooper is one of the best known horror directors in the current era. He is known for the producing the type of films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist. He likes to include the sub genre slasher, like in Texas Chainsaw Massacre where the antagonist is known for always carrrying knives of sharp objects. This always leaves the audience knowing what is happening within the film and is easy to follow and that is why his films are so successfully.

Alfred Hitchcock - Hitchcock was a well established horror director and still is long after his death. He is known for producing films such as Psycho and Dial M for murder. These films use the sub genre thriller as they include the basic conventions of showing fast cut shots and slow paced music building up tension throughout every scene which shows importance as so does the extreme close ups used in the opening credits within these two films.

James Whale - Whale was a well established horror director until his death and even long after. He is known for producing the first version of a well known and re written film called Frankenstien. Frankenstien uses the basic convetions of horror and the sub genre Science Fiction, these includes the future of technology and the frightening scences of the horror films. This fim has been re made many times since James Whale's death however none will ever match the story of what he created in his early career of becoming a horror director.
